Plucked instruments

Around 1800, the manufacture of guitars led to an autonomous branch of instrument making: plucked instuments. The production of zithers began in the 19th century in Markneukirchen and in the subsequent years, all kinds of plucked instruments were being produced.

Today, high quality solo instruments are being produced in master craftsmen´s workshops in Vogtland, most of which by traditional family businesses.
